Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, is about a young woman, Auden, who is about to start her life as a college student. With her life completely devoted to academics, even as child, she never had friends or a social life. Her parents constantly bickered and eventually got divorced, but before they did, the continual fighting forced Auden out on the streets every the night to avoid it all. She always ended up at a little café and is the reason behind why she became an insomniac, study-hard girl. After a conversation with her traveling brother, Hollis, she decides to spend the summer before college in Colby, with her dad, step-mom, and new born sister. Throughout the summer, Auden gets little by little pieces of her childhood back as she meets girls her own age, talks with her step-mom, Heidi; takes care of Thisbe, her baby sister; and gets to know the mystery boy Eli. With the help of Eli and her new friends, she gets her past back, learns to hold her own with her bossy mom, and learns how to ride a bike with no training wheels.

I truly loved this book and the plot of the story. It was packed with comedy, romance, and suspense. Throughout the story, I could not put the book down and actually enjoyed reading it. I would recommend this book more for the female population due to the romantic nature of the book. Overall though, loved it and would recommend it to any one that will listen
