Reading for a Lifetime Together

Graceling is not your average fairytale. The main character is neither a princess nor prince, and is most certainly not helpless or sheltered. In a land where people have so many wonderful and extraordinary powers, Katsa is graced, or cursed, with the power of killing. Though a king’s niece,   her powers prevent her from living the good life and instead make her life a living hell. Her opinion on the matter is summed up perfectly with, “A killing couldn’t be undone, and she’d killed enough”. Through the help of her new friend Po, she learns that everything is not always as it seems. I loved this book and recommend it to everyone. The main character really intrigues me. She is unconventional, even by today’s standards. She does not want to marry nor have children. To a girl who was kept as the king’s dog, the most important thing to her is freedom. Though we can respect that, not many can really understand. I also loved how easy of a read it was. Though the book looks big, I finished it in less than a day. It doesn’t have a wasted sentence and everything is important. The way it was written was easy to understand and not a book that required a lot of thinking or interpretation from the reader. This book is definitely one worth reading.
