Rules of Attraction: Simone Elkeles: Laurel Mueth. This is the sequel to Perfect chemistry, which I thought was a great book. This story is from the alternating points of view from Carlos and Kiara. Carlos was sent to live with Alex in Colorado, where he meets Kiara. After getting used to things, Carlos gets set up for having narcotics by a drug lord. He’s arressted and Alex is furious. Kiara’s dad, one of Alex’s professors, believes Carlos, and offers to have him stay with them for a while. At this point, Kiara doesn’t like Carlos, but Carlos likes Kiara. Carlos agrees to living with the family, if only to get close to Kiara. The drug lord keeps trying to get Carlos to join his gang, but since he set Carlos up, Carlos thinks better of it. As the drug lord gets pushier and pushier, Carlos seeks advice from his brother, a former gang member, and Professor Westford, Kiara’s dad. Together they help bring justice and prove Carlos’ innocence. I liked thid book, although Carlos was my least favorite brother out of the three. I like the fact that Elkeles puts random spanish words in her books, making reading them fun and interesting. I take spanish, so it’s cool understanding some of what she says. If I don’t understand something, I can always go on the computer and look it up. All in all, I thought it was a great book.
