Reading for a Lifetime Together

I read the book Unwind by Neal Shusterman. The book takes place in a futeristic society, after a war over abortion. At the end of the war “unwinding,” or taking apart your children to donate their parts, became the replacement for abortion.

The story starts with three children, Connor, Risa, and Lev, who are goingto be unwound. Connor is being unwound for being unruly, Risa because she lives in an orphanage and there isn’t enough money, and Lev because it’s part of his religion.

The three meet up with Connor trying to escape. In the process he kidnaps Lev, and the three flee into the woods. Lev trys to escape from them, and nearly gets them caught, but his pastor tells him that being unwound isn’t the best thing for him. The three are eventually taken to an unwinding facility where, right before Connor is unwound, A terrorist attack takes place.

I found this to be a very good book. It kept me wanting to keep reading, and it is one of the best books I’ve read in the past year.Which issaying a lot, because I read a large number of books in a year. The only part I didn’t like was the description of unwinding. It was a little too graphic for my taste.
